Q: How does the funding work? A: A Worker will sign up for an account much like someone signs up for personal web space i.e., Facebook.com or MySpace.com. This provides the believer to advertise his or her web address. Then the believer can solicit donations directly to that user. And the donors can make their recurring giving dependent upon the eMiracleWorkers progress toward reported goals on his or her regular blogs. Consider this example: A ministry worker meets a citizen on the street and offers the homeless person good news and a job. They go to the ministry and create an eMW account. Q: What happens when an eMiracleWorker becomes fully funded? A: An eMW never becomes fully funded as an individual can make as much as he she is able. But the amount of donation returned to the individual is proportional to the level of funding and matching grants. In the beginning an eMW may receive many grants without soliciting donors. As the level of recurring donations increases, grants are reduced. There are thresholds for funding based upon job classifications. A worker may work for eMW and become 100% funded. And eMW will receive 10% of funds beyond fully funded. Or a worker may take his or her donors to a nonprofit organization which will set the level for 100% funding in a similar manor to the eMW teleworker. Or if the eMW leaves the organization for the private sector then the worker's donors will be free to support another worker. Q: It seems like most of the money raised by the organization goes toward individuals rather than charity. Is this true? A: In reality the design of eMiracleWorker is to put more money in charity than any other organization. Our contractors begin soliciting sponsors and donations using their own overhead for phone and Internet access. This means we do not have the expense of an office for thousands of employees. This alone makes us more efficient than office based organizations like United Way. Next our whole goal is to enable employees that can leverage more donations or work for another non profit organization. Whether a sponsor's donation supports an employee at the non profit organization or goes through us, the worker has to be paid for their work (Brian Gallagher, CEO of United Way made over $500.000 in 2003). If they are willing to donate their time, they can in turn sponsor other eMiracleWorkers or work outside our organization. If the worker goes to work for a for profit business, eMiracleWorker has the opportunity to receive more money than ever would have been reached from $10 per month sponsors. A $10 an hour worker might buy a company that has profits of one billion dollars! And we are much more efficient than any nonprofit organization because we are truly a paperless office. We collect donations and deliver payments without having to touch the money so we don't have the administrative burdens. It is not efficient for a food bank or a homeless shelter to carve the administration of the employees out of their overhead. Q: When a business submits donations other than to workers, where does the money go? A: Tax exempt charities may apply for donations from eMiracleWorker. eMiracleWorker.com reviews requests for charitable donations based upon our bylaws and allocates payments according to budgetary contraints. The exempt purposes set forth in IRS Section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and the prevention of cruelty to children or animals. The term charitable is used in its generally accepted legal sense and includes relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged; advancement of religion; advancement of education or science; erection or maintenance of public buildings, monuments, or works; lessening the burdens of government; lessening of neighborhood tensions; elimination of prejudice and discrimination; defense of human and civil rights secured by law; and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency. Q: Who can become an eMiracleWorker? A: Any individual of legal working status in the US and abides within state regulations of their residence may become an eMiracleWorker. Please refer to the eMiracleWorker page for additional requirements regarding work status. Q: Why is the minimum donation $10? A: Our budget is based on a ratio of charitable donation given to a worker or to an additional charity. Since most of our charities are given monthly by credit card, the actual money that eMiracleWorker receives is based in part on the amount of money which the bank takes for transaction services. A minimum of $.20 is required on all transactions. $.20 represents 2% on a donation of $10 but represents 4% on a donation of $5. Too much money is given to the credit card company with transactions smaller than $10. eMiracleWorker.com would like to grow to become their own credit card merchant to reduce the fees associated with donations. |
